TRACK AND FIELD
Track and field is available to individuals of all ages and expertise levels who meet a Paralympic qualification (i.e have a physical disability). Wichita Adaptive Sports provides scholarships to those on the track team for travel expenses to compete with youth and adults from across the United States at various team sponsored events.
Track is coached by Paralympian, Liz Willis, and is well supported at practices by co-coaches: Leanne Funk in racing chair expertise, Megan Sayre in field events, and UTA adaptive athlete, Kasey Nickel joining in the summer. All coaches have extensive experience coaching para sports both in the field and on the track. We encourage local Middle and High School coaches to join our practice to gain insights on how to modify and adapt for your wheelchair athletes. Practices are held on Sunday afternoons May- July at Andover Central middle school track at 2-4pm. We train for two local meets hosted in June. Qualifying athletes for Move United Nationals will be hosted in Grand Rapids, Michigan in July.
